Charlotte Tidemann playing in the U10YG team in round 9 booted a noteworthy 13 Goals 2 points

In AFL terminology 6 goals is a bag, 10 goals is feast whilst 13 goals is a mountain of goals. Charlotte (daughter of the WMS U14:1 Coach Craig) is thrilled to be part of a great team whilst Craig will be looking to improve Charlottes goal kicking accuracy on the training track this week.

Well done Charlotte & great work team U10YG.

Go the Wildcats!!

AFL Camps this holidays

Hope you are all looking forward to another great season of footy! I would like to let you know about 2 camps I am running during the school holidays that your players aged 6 – 14 may be interested in attending,

23APR / 24APR

9:00AM – 3:00PM (8:30AM sign on for first day)

Heffron Park, Maroubra

26APR / 27APR

9:00AM – 3:00PM (8:30AM sign on for first day)

St Ignatius, Riverview

Some of you may have heard from Michelle Nikiforos from Sports Camps Australia and shared this information already.

For those who know me and have helped promote these camps thank you for your ongoing support, I have only heard great feedback from campers and their families.

To introduce myself to others I have not met, I have been involved in coaching for over 20 years following my brief football career playing with Richmond and Sydney Swans, more recently as long standing coach at Willoughby Wildcats, St Ignatius college and for the 3rd year as Camp Director and head coach of Sports Camps Australia AFL Camps.  We provide great skills sessions and structured drills with lots of learning opportunities and I am supported by either Swans players, Swans Academy members or local U19/Premier division players to ensure there is experienced coaching and skills development for all ages and abilities.

I would really appreciate if you could circulate this to all your players in the next week or so with your regular communications. If you are unable to share or for any reason would like to be excluded from this list, please reply. If there is a better contact at your club, please let me know.

I am passionate about teaching both boys and girls the basics of footy. And having fun.

All the best for a great 2018 season and lets not forget what our great Club is all about….

The AFL Willoughby Wildcats may not have a home ground nor dedicated training facility in 2018 but the Wildcats spirit has shone through and after hours of work by the volunteer group 160+ auskickers and 28 teams are ready to hit the oval this weekend for some long awaited footy!

All the best for a great 2018 season and lets not forget what our great Club is all about….

The key measure for our success as a club isn’t by reference to how big we are, nor how many games of footy or premierships we win, rather, we look to other more intangible measures, such as:

  • are our kids having fun, improving their footy skills and meeting new mates
  • are we providing a positive environment for both our kids and their parents
  • our players and parents respect and adherence to the AFL code of practice
  • are we teaching our kids, parents and coaches to play sport in a sportsman like way, that treats opponents fairly and respects the decision of the umpires;

And it is timely to note the words of our theme song….

Oh we’re from Willoughby
A fighting fury
We’re from Willoughby
In any weather
You will see us with a grin
Risking head and shin
If we’re behind then never mind
We’ll fight and fight and win
Oh we’re from Willoughby
We never weaken til the final siren sounds
Like the Wildcats of old, we’re strong and we’re bold
Oh we’re from Willoughby (green and gold)
Oh we’re from Willoughby

Go the Wildcats!
